Gmail now has themes!

When you log into gmail things might appear a little different.
Google's beloved web-based email client has always been ripe for third-party design customisation (we've always been partial to the Gmail Redesigned skin in Better Gmail, for example), but now Gmail is officially riding the interface customisation train by offering 30-some new themes to spice up your inbox.

Then of course if your like me an techy, greenscreens are your only option baby!

Here's a grid of the new themes.

In some cases, you can also customize by location. Some themes change during the day, and we use the location information you provide to correctly time these changes with your local sunrise, sunset, and/or weather. If you select one of these themes, you'll see a Country/Region drop-down menu appear. Select the country you want, and then enter a city in the field provided. If you don't enter a city, or enter an invalid one, we'll set your location to the capital city of the country you selected. When you're done, click Save.

They talk about a themes tab but I can't see one at all.

Mine eventually arrived. I was reading into it more and they were progressively rolling it out across their servers.

franger goto Settings (top Right) and there is a themes tab near the end

the planets one if pretty cool it changes depending on location, Time, etc.

No the tab wasn't there, they simply hadn't handed it to my account yet, seems they have over the weekend though.

While initially excited by the prospect of new themes, after some experimentation I've gone back to the classic... I find it a lot 'cleaner' and easier to deal with...
